Abarth Punto Evo teased; to be launched soon

Fiat India has released the first official images of the Abarth Punto Evo on their website. This comes just days after Team Fiat Moto Club leaked the performance specifications of the upcoming Abarth iterations of the Fiat Punto and Avventura. According to the information revealed, the Abarth Punto Evo, powered by a 145bhp, 1.4-litre, four-cylinder T-jet engine is expected to do a 0-100kph dash in 8.8 seconds. Performance aside, the Abarth Punto Evo also claims a fuel efficiency figure of 16.3kpl.

Available in black and white exteriors, the Abarth Punto Evo sports 16-inch ‘Scorpion’ alloy wheels equipped with disc brakes. The hot hatch gets a lowered ride height with stiffer coil springs. The interiors of the Abarth Punto Evo remain identical to the standard Punto Evo, save for the addition of the Abarth Scorpion badge on the steering wheel, sportier steel pedals, and new seat fabrics with red and yellow contrast stitching.

Expected to be launched after the Abarth Punto Evo is the Avventura powered by Abarth. This car will be powered by a slightly detuned version of the 1.4-litre T-jet engine powering the Abarth Punto Evo, and will produce 140bhp and 21.41kgm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed gearbox, unlike the five-speed transmission doing duty on the hot hatch. The Avventura powered by Abarth claims a
0-100 kph time of 9.9 seconds, making it the only car in its segment, and at this price-point, besides the Abarth Punto Evo, to breach the 10-second barrier for accelerating from standstill to 100kph. Despite the performance, the Avventura powered by Abarth shall deliver a fuel efficiency figure of 17.1kmpl.

Available in only white and red exteriors with black cladding as seen on the standard Fiat Avventura, this version gets the addition of red disc brake callipers on all four wheels, along with 16-inch alloy wheels, as on its hot hatch cousin. Interiors too, are expected to be in line with that of the Abarth Punto Evo.

More details about the two cars will be revealed closer to the launch.
