Following leaked images of the next-gen Wrangler's exterior surfacing online earlier this year, images of the SUV’s cabin too are now in the open.

As with the exterior, the cabin too follows an evolutionary design with the basic set-up more or less unchanged. The 2018 Wrangler retains its shallow and upright dashboard though with a heavily revised layout of switchgear and more tech on offer. The dashboard seems to feature a body-coloured strip running the length of the unit with new circular air-con vents flanking a large, central touchscreen infotainment system.

The air-con system also features new controls lower down on the centre console flanked by dials to operate the touchscreen system with the power window switches located near the base of the centre stack. The instrument cluster is revised, though it remains an analogue unit. As per reports, the car is also expected to feature tech such as a start-stop system, reverse camera, navigation function, heated steering and key-less entry and go.

As with its predecessor, the next-gen Wrangler is set to continue to be a ladder-on-frame SUV with solid axles to retain its legendary off-road character.

Under the hood, the current range of engines is expected to be updated and carried forward with the next-gen SUV also expected to receive hybrid powertrains as well.

The 2018 Wrangler is expected to make its global debut towards the end of the year with the model also entering production around the same time.

For India, it is likely that Jeep will bring in the new Wrangler shortly after its launch in international markets with the India-spec car currently being imported as CBU. At present, the brand in India is focusing on the launch of its most affordable SUV, the all-new Compass which recently made its debut in the country.
