Shortly after the Tata Curvv made its debut in close-to-production guise at the Bharat Mobility Expo, our sources have confirmed that the company will launch the EV iteration sometime in the second quarter of FY2025 (July-September 2024). The diesel-powered Curvv will follow in 3-4 months’ time, which means the launch could be around Diwali this year, and the petrol will be the last to arrive.

    1. Curvv to get petrol, diesel and electric powertrain options
    2. Interior and features to be shared with Nexon
    3. Curvv will be Tata’s answer to the Creta, Seltos

    Tata Curvv exterior details

The Curvv will be based on the Nexon platform and carries a familiar design language as well. It will have Tata’s signature new split-LED headlamp setup, lots of gloss-black cladding on the sides, a split tail-lamp setup at the rear and that distinct coupe-like roofline. EV and ICE models will likely be marked out by different-looking bumpers and LED light signatures. In terms of dimensions, the Curvv will be 313mm longer than the Nexon, with the wheelbase going up by 62mm.

    Tata Curvv interior and features

A lot will be common between the Curvv and the Nexon on the inside; the dashboard design is largely the same on both models, and it gets the four-spoke illuminated steering wheel from the Harrier and Safari. The 10.25-inch screens for the instrument cluster and digital dials are likely to be carried over too, although the EV could be marked out by some unique switchgear and additional features; just as the Nexon EV has over the regular Nexon. Other features of note could include a wireless charger, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats and connected car features. One of the exterior images also shows that the Curvv will get a sunroof, though it’s unlikely to be a panoramic unit.

    Tata Curvv powertrain options

Under the hood, the Tata Curvv will come with the brand’s new 125hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that will be offered with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Meanwhile, diesel versions will use the Nexon’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder unit, making it only the third diesel offering in the midsize SUV segment, with a CNG also expected in the future. As for the EV, it will use Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev architecture, and while technical details are currently sparse, it will likely have 450-500km range. With as many as four different powertrain options, the Curvv will have a unique edge in the segment.

Upon launch, the Curvv SUV coupe will enter the populated midsize SUV segment and rival the likes of the Hyundai CretaKia SeltosHonda ElevateMaruti Suzuki Grand VitaraToyota HyryderSkoda KushaqVolkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.
