The ABS-equipped Mojo is most likely a new model that will come in place of the UT 300 and XT 300.

    ABS-equipped Mahindra Mojo 300 spotted

New images reveal that Mahindra appears to be bringing back the Mojo with ABS. The motorcycle has been unavailable for a while now in both its variants – UT 300 and XT 300 – since it wasn't equipped with the safety tech, which is now mandatory.

The Mojo seen in the pictures appears to be running the same single-sided exhaust and conventional telescopic fork as the UT 300. Other components like the wheels and bodywork also appear to be similar to the model that was on sale.

However, ABS aside, there are also two additional distinctions. The Mojo seen here appears to riding on Pirelli Angel CT tyres, while the previous UT and XT ran on MRF Nylogrip Zappers and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IIs, respectively. The bike seen in the pictures also has the LED DRLs from the XT 300.

Rumours suggest that Mahindra will launch one new Mojo model in place of the UT and XT, and these images back that up. While it's not visible in the images, we believe the new Mojo variant will use the fuel-injection system from the XT and not the carburettor from the UT, so that it can be tuned to meet BS6 standards when they kick in. There is even a possibility of Mahindra launching it as a BS6-compliant offering well in advance; but that remains to be seen.

The UT 300 was priced at Rs 1.49 lakh, while the XT 300 would cost you Rs 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). If Mahindra added ABS to the XT as it is, it would drive its price up even higher, possibly even crossing the Rs 1.74 lakh price tag of the more-powerful Bajaj Dominar 400 – and this would not be ideal if the company was looking to be competitive in the segment. This is why we believe they have used the UT with its more affordable components as a base. That said, dual-channel ABS, fuel-injection and Pirelli tyres will most certainly bring the cost up; just by how much, remains to be seen.
