The RS 457 is the first motorcycle that will be locally manufactured by Piaggio at its Baramati plant in India, and it is a product that will be exported from here as well. The bike will compete against the likes of the KTM RC 390 and the Yamaha R3, which will also be launched in India in December.

The Aprilia is the only bike in its class with an aluminium chassis, and it also packs electronic riding assists like traction control and riding modes. With a new twin-cylinder motor that produces 48hp, the bike will also be the most powerful in the segment and. It weighs 175kg, which is also a little more than its rivals.

We expect the Aprilia RS 457 to be priced between the KTM RC 390 (Rs 3.18 lakh) and the Yamaha (Rs 4 lakh-4.5 lakh, estimated), but significantly lower than the Kawasaki Ninja 400 (Rs 5.24 lakh), which is its closest competitor on paper.
