After taking the covers off the new Xoom 160 and Xoom 125R at EICMA 2023, Hero showcased both scooters for the first time on Indian soil at its Hero World event.
Hero Xoom 160
The Hero Xoom 160 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 156cc, single-cylinder engine making 14hp at 8,000rpm and 13.7Nm at 6,500rpm. It is equipped with Hero’s patented i3s stop-start technology and a silent starter. The Xoom 160 weighs 141kg, is suspended by a telescopic fork/twin shock absorber setup and runs on 14-inch wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres.
The feature set for this ADV-esque maxi-scooter includes keyless ignition, a fully digital dash, remote seat opening and two split LED headlights. The only real rival to the Hero Xoom 160 when it launches will be the popular Yamaha Aerox 155 (Rs 1.47 lakh).
Hero Xoom 125R
The Xoom 125R will sit above the Xoom 110 in the line-up and is powered by an air-cooled, 124.6cc, single-cylinder mill making 9.5hp and 10.14Nm. This engine makes more power, but it's slightly down on torque compared to Hero's other 125cc scooters. It has a fully digital dash that gets Bluetooth connectivity enabling turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts.
The Xoom 125R is also equipped with sequential LED indicators. When it launches, the Hero Xoom 125R will enter the hotly contested 125cc scooter space with rivals such as the TVS Ntorq (Rs 85,000-1,05,000), Suzuki Avenis (Rs 92,000-92,800) and the Honda Dio 125 (Rs 83,400-91,300).
Alongside these scooters, Hero also showcased the 2.5R XTunt concept, which previews an upcoming 250cc streetfighter. To read more about that, tap here.
