Revolt Motors, which was one of the first movers in the electric motorcycle space with the RV400, has now launched its latest electric bike, the RV1. The standard RV1 is priced at Rs 84,990, while the higher-spec RV1+ will cost Rs 99,990.

    1. Higher variant gets larger battery, more range
    2. Both versions get 6-inch LCD dash

This pricing makes the RV1 the entry point to Revolt’s model range, placing it below the RV400. As a result, its specifications and equipment levels are also largely more basic than the RV400. The RV1 is powered by a mid-mounted 2.8kW motor that sends power to the rear wheel via a chain drive system. Chains are more maintenance-heavy than belts, and more importantly, they're noisier on an EV. So the choice of a chain over a belt is a curious one, and suggests that this bike is built to a cost. It also gets a reverse mode and a 240mm disc brake at each end, with CBS.

Other features here include an LED headlight and tail-lamp, and a 6-inch fully digital LCD dash. The lower-priced RV1 gets a 2.2kWh battery offering 100km claimed range, while the more expensive RV1+ receives a 3.24kWh battery and a claimed range of 160km. Both variants are offered with a built-in charger; the RV1 charges from 0-80 percent in 2 hours and 15 minutes, while the RV1+ takes 3 hours and 30 minutes. Revolt also claims that the RV1+ can be fully charged in just 1.5 hours, with fast charging. But there are no details yet about such a fast charger, its power output, or how much it would cost.

Revolt says that bookings for the RV1 are open for just Rs 499, with deliveries slated to begin 10 days from now. What do you think of the new RV1? Tell us in the comments below.
