The latest in a long line of new models set to emerge from Royal Enfield’s 650cc platform has been spied and its the Scrambler 650. This bike will use the same engine as other Royal Enfield 650s although it is the first one to use a two-into-one exhaust system.

    1. Gets wire-spoke rims, will likely have tubed tyres
    2. Suspended by USD fork, twin shocks that appear to be long travel

The Super Meteor 650 was the first model from Royal Enfield to employ a Showa USD fork and now it seems like that’s going to become increasingly commonplace, what with the new Himalayan 452, Shotgun 650 and even this Scrambler 650 have been seen sporting it. However, unlike the Super Meteor 650, the front brake disc is on the left hand side. Another element that's becoming more common on newer Royal Enfield bikes is the round LED headlight and the Scrambler 650 features it too.

The Royal Enfield 650cc scrambler rolls on conventional wire-spoke rims that are shod with premium Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR dual-purpose rubber but its likely that the production-spec bike will feature some localized rubber. Suspension duties are handled by a USD fork and twin shock absorbers, and these units appear to have more travel than a conventional street bike.

While the engine is likely to be carried forward without any major changes to its 47hp/52Nm peak output figures, the Scrambler 650 will be the first model in the company’s lineup to sport a two-into-one exhaust.

While this particular test mule appears quite close to production-spec, there is some data logging equipment strapped onto the back, which indicates that this bike is still undergoing some internal testing. Expect to see the Royal Enfield 650cc scrambler’s official reveal sometime next year.
