    Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, has celebrated the landmark of producing 8 million cumulative two-wheelers in India.

    SMIPL began its operations in India in February 2006 with the Access 125 at its production facility in Kherki Dhaula, Gurgaon. The first 4 million units were made in 13 years, with the next 4 million coming up in around 5 years. Notably, the 8 million production milestone was achieved in the 19th year, with the last 1 million units added in just one year. The 8 millionth unit was an Avenis 125 scooter finished in Pearl Blaze Orange/Glass Sparkle Black.

    Kenichi Umeda, managing director, Suzuki Motorcycle India said, "Reaching the 8 million-unit  production milestone is a testament to SMIPL’s manufacturing capability."

    SMIPL currently manufactures a diverse range of scooters and motorcycles for Indian as well as international markets. Its domestic line-up includes its popular 125cc scooters – Access 125, Avenis, Burgman Street & Burgman Street SX –  and 150cc-250cc motorcycles – Gixxer & Gixxer SF, Gixxer 250 & Gixxer 250 SF and V-Strom SX. Suzuki also retails select large-capacity models in India, including the recently launched V-Strom 800DE, the neo-retro Katana supernaked and the legendary Hayabusa.
