Honda's Shine 100 is its very first offering in the 100cc commuter space which deals in truly massive volumes. In the process, it also became one of the most affordable motorcycles in the country. Here’s a full list of the top 5 most affordable bikes currently on sale in India.

    5. Bajaj Platina 100

    Rs 67,808

The Platina 100 is Bajaj’s most affordable model, as well as the 5th most affordable motorcycle on our market. Powered by a 102cc motor featuring Bajaj’s signature DTS-i technology, and is also the only bike here to not get fuel-injection – it uses Bajaj’s e-carb instead. The motor produces 7.9hp and 8.3Nm – figures that are higher than all its 100cc competitors. The Platina’s standout feature in this segment is its LED DRL.

    4. Honda Shine 100

    Rs 64,900

The newest entrant to this list makes it to 4th spot. The Honda Shine 100 is a simple motorcycle but it does pack in things like an auto choke system, and a side-stand engine cut-off. It’s also the only motorcycle on this list so far to be OBD-2A compliant and E20 compatible. At its heart is a 7.61hp, 8.05Nm, 99.7cc engine featuring an electric starter, making it the most affordable self-start motorcycle in the country.

    3. TVS Sport

    Rs 61,500 to 69,873

Even though its 109.7cc engine places it in a slightly higher segment than the other bikes on this list, the TVS Sport is still the third most affordable motorcycle in the country. That is for the base model which comes with a kick starter – self-start versions go as high as Rs 69,873. The Sport’s displacement advantage reflects in output figures, too, and it manages 8.3hp and 8.7Nm.

    2. Hero HF Deluxe

    Rs 59,998 to 68,768

The undisputed market leader in the 100cc space is Hero MotoCorp, and one of the bikes that helps it enjoy this success is the popular HF Deluxe. The legendary 97cc ‘Sloper’ engine continues to live on, and now comes fitted with Hero’s i3S stop-start technology. Like the TVS Sport, the lower variants get kick starters, while the higher versions feature an electric starter.

    1. Hero HF 100

    Rs 59,068

Sheer simplicity is what allows the Hero HF 100 to be the most affordable motorcycle currently on sale in India. It features the same 97cc engine as the HF Deluxe making the same 8hp and 8.05Nm, but foregoes the i3S stop-start technology. It’s also available in just one single variant with only a kick-starter.

Surprised to see the evergreen Here Splendor missing from this list? Well, starting at Rs 75,141 and going up to Rs 79,991, the Splendor is actually the most expensive 100cc commuter currently available in India. But decades of dependability help it to continue selling in high numbers.

One thing to note here is that we have standardised the price format and used ex-showroom prices for Mumbai across the board, since this is where our offices are based, and this is also the only city where prices for the Honda Shine 100 are currently available. Taking into account price fluctuations in different parts of the country, this list may look different depending on exactly where you live. The TVS Radeon, for example, costs Rs 11,000 more in Mumbai than it does in Delhi.

    All prices ex-showroom, Mumbai
