TVS has filed trademark applications for two names that will most likely find their way onto the electric version of its popular XL 100 moped.

    1. XL 100 moped is one of TVS’ longest-running models
    2. Kinetic E Luna only electric moped on sale currently

As of now, the TVS XL 100 is the only petrol-powered moped available for purchase in the country and its price ranges between Rs 44,999 – Rs 59,695 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The names in these trademark filings certainly open the door to the possibility of TVS working on a battery-powered XL model.

The XL 100 is a long-standing model in TVS’ portfolio and sells in five-digit figures even today. With the success of its iQube range, TVS looks to be expanding its electric two-wheeler portfolio, while using one of its most established brands. Considering that TVS has filed these patents in January of this year, it is still early days for the E-XL / XL EV project and as such there are no details or official company confirmation regarding the same.

Currently, there is only one electric moped on sale in India – the Kinetic E Luna that is priced between Rs 64,990 – Rs 74,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
