For the 2019 model year, Hyundai has revised the variant list of its premium hatchback, the i20, and added in standard safety kit.

Prices for the updated i20 line-up start at Rs 6.64 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the base Era petrol. The line-up gets a new Magna+ trim in place of the Magna Executive. Priced at Rs 7.51 lakh for the petrol and Rs 9.25 lakh for the diesel, the Magna+ misses out on the CVT option that was offered earlier but now gets Bluetooth connectivity, steering-mounted audio controls, keyless entry, fog lamps and LED DRLs.

Hyundai has also discontinued the Sportz and Asta trims in favour of a Sportz+ trim. The Sportz+ (Petrol: 8.51 lakh; Diesel: Rs 10.13 lakh) features the brand’s 7.0-inch touchscreen AVN system, 15-inch alloys and tilt and telescopic steering. Also, for an extra Rs 35,000, you can get a Sportz+ dual-tone variant that comes with larger 16-inch diamond cut alloys, wireless charging and adjustable rear headrests. Also available is a petrol-CVT option priced at Rs 9.79 lakh.

The top end Asta (O) is priced at Rs 9.60 lakh for the petrol and Rs 11.15 lakh for the diesel variant. A new addition to the Asta(O) is the CVT gearbox variant priced at Rs 10.82 lakh. All prices mentioned here are on-road prices for Mumbai.

The base Era variant sees the addition of rear parking sensors along with Eco coating to the air-con system.

The i20's updated equipment list helps the model meet the upcoming safety norms which makes equipment such as a speed warning system, driver airbag, ABS and rear parking sensors mandatory. The addition of the Asta(O) CVT option also gives the i20 a top-end petrol automatic option to rival the Honda Jazz, the only other model in the segment to offer an auto gearbox on the top trim.

The i20 rivals the likes of the Honda Jazz and the Maruti Baleno which will soon receive a mid-cycle update and more features.
