2019 Maserati Quattroporte launched in India; priced from Rs 1.74 crore

You may not have realised it, but the current-gen Maserati Quattroporte has been around for more than six years. Now, in a bid to inject some freshness into its full-size luxury sedan, Maserati has rolled out a small update for the Quattroporte, which includes a number of cosmetic changes inside and out. The 2019 Maserati Quattroporte has been priced at Rs 1.74 crore for the GranLusso variant, and Rs 1.79 crore for the GranSport variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).

New on the 2019 Quattroporte are two paint options (Rosso Potente and Blu Nobile), Pieno Fiore full-grain leather upholstery, a redesigned gear lever, updated graphics for the Maserati Touch Control Plus infotainment system and two interior veneer finishes – the Carbonfibre Twill and the wooden Rovere Veneer.

The GranLusso and GranSport variants differ in their exterior appearance. In GranLusso trim, the Quattroporte gets a different front bumper equipped with a small front spoiler and chrome inserts, body-coloured side skirts and 20-inch alloy wheels. The sportier GranSport variant gets 21-inch wheels with red-painted brake calipers, more pronounced intakes in the front bumper, aero splitters on the lower section and piano-black finished side inserts.

In terms of features, the 2019 Quattroporte comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display that’s compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.  A 10-speaker, 900W Harman Kardon sound system is standard, with a 15-speaker, 1,280W Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound system available as an option.

Mechanically, the 2019 Maserati Quattroporte is identical to the 2018 model. Powering it is a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel producing 275hp and 600Nm of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. With power going to the rear wheels only, the Quattroporte diesel has a 0-100kph time of 6.4sec and a top speed of 252kph. At this time, the 2019 Quattroporte is available only with a diesel engine, as the updated Quattroporte GTS – with a 3.8-litre, 530hp petrol V8 – will only be launched later in 2019.

Interesting times await Maserati, as it is in the process of ditching diesels entirely by 2022, and is readying an all-new line-up of models, which will include the Alfieri coupe, a new SUV that will slot in beneath the Levante, and a bevy of hybrid and full-electric models.
