Ahead of its launch next year, the second-gen Skoda Kodiaq has been spotted testing on our roads once again. The new Kodiaq will be brought to India via the CKD route, and this recent sighting of two uncamouflaged test mules suggests that the Kodiaq is likely to be offered in two trim levels.

    1. Next-gen Kodiaq to be launched in the April-June quarter of 2025
    2. The SUV will retain its 190hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine
    3. It will be brought in as CKD kits and assembled locally

Next-gen Skoda Kodiaq: what’s new in the spy shots?

A close look at the spy shots reveals that the two Kodiaqs are slightly differently specced – the one behind wears a body-coloured bumper with a contrasting black trim and chrome garnishes, suggesting this will be higher-spec trim. Meanwhile, the one in front sports a much simpler design with larger portions finished in black plastic and a silver contrasting element. The alloy wheels on the two Kodiaqs also appear different – the front one has an aero-optimised design, while the rear one has a multi-spoke design.

A 4x4 badge is clearly visible on the tailgate.

In India, the Kodiaq is available only in the fully loaded L&K trim priced at Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Skoda had introduced it in three trims – Style, Sportline and L&K – at launch, but it discontinued the first two in due course. It is likely that the company will bring back one of these trims with the new Kodiaq.

Next-gen Skoda Kodiaq: engine, features and launch timeline

The new Kodiaq will continue with the same powertrain as the outgoing model: the 190hp, 320Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch auto feeding power to all four wheels. A 4x4 badge is also clearly visible in these spy images.

The second generation of the SUV has features such as a large, 13-inch freestanding touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, three physical rotary dials with an in-built display for HVAC and media controls, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and more. It is slightly longer than the existing model, but the wheelbase remains unchanged. So, its overall interior space will likely be similar to the existing model.

The second-gen Skoda Kodiaq will be launched in India in the second quarter of next year and rival the likes of the Jeep Meridian and the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron.
