BMW India has launched the 2 Series Gran Coupe M Performance edition at Rs 46 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This makes it Rs 50,000 more expensive than the 220i M Sport Pro trim. The M Performance edition is only available with the petrol engine and will be sold in limited numbers.

BMW 2 Series M Performance edition: what it gets
The 2 Series M Performance edition is available only with the Sapphire Black exterior colour, with the interior draped in black and beige. The special edition also gets M Performance parts such as the grille, drive selector, badges and puddle lamps. The inserts in the front bumper as well as the grille and wing mirrors are finished in a contrasting Cerium Grey.

Talking about the features, the 2 Series M Performance edition comes with two 10.25-inch displays – one for the instrument cluster and one for the infotainment system. Other features include a wireless charger, head-up display, reverse camera and a 10-speaker sound system.
Safety features include six airbags as standard, three-point seat belts for all passengers, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX anchors, and run-flat tyres.
The 2 Series M Performance edition comes only with the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 179hp and 280Nm, and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It can do a 0-100kph run in 7.1 seconds (claimed).
BMW 2 Series M Performance edition price and rivals
At Rs 46 lakh, the M Performance edition costs Rs 50,000 more than the 220i M Sport Pro and 220d M Sport trims, and Rs 2.5 lakh more than the 220i M Sport trim. The standard 2 Series is priced between Rs 43.50 lakh-45.50 lakh, and rivals the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine (Rs 45.80 lakh).

Numbers don't stack up for the price point! To expensive and too slow... When Hyundai Verna with more room and 160 bhp and 25 kgm torque or even a Virtus/Slavia will be well worth it, than this. It's taking the BMW brand value down...
