BMW India has announced the commencement of bookings for the new 5 Series from today, 12:00pm. The 5 Series LWB can be booked at the German brand’s dealership network, and via the BMW Online shop. As we’ve reported earlier, this is the first time that the luxury sedan has been brought to India in long-wheelbase form.

    2. Long-wheelbase 5 Series is larger than current and next-gen E-Class
    3. 5 Series LWB price announcement on July 24

For now, the BMW 5 Series LWB can be booked in two guises: 530Li M Sport LWB finished with Titanium Bronze highlights or finished in what the brand calls Aluminium Satinated. There are two exterior colours to choose from — Sparkling Copper Grey and Carbon Metallic Black — though the interior can be specced in just the one dual-tone Copper Brown and Atlas Grey finish, with Veganza perforated and quilted upholstery.

The new 5 Series LWB finished in Carbon Metallic Black.

The 5 Series LWB will directly take on the Mercedes E-Class, which has been on offer in long-wheelbase form for a while now. As we found out when we put the two luxury sedans together, on paper, the BMW is longer, wider, taller and has a longer wheelbase than the current and next-generation E-Class, which should bode well for interior space.

More details will be revealed when prices for the eighth-gen 5 Series will be announced on July 24. Stay tuned.
