BMW India has launched the all-electric iX1 LWB at the ongoing Auto Expo; the X1 Long Wheelbase All Electric eDrive20L M Sport is priced at Rs 49 lakh, ex-showroom, India, for an introductory period. The long-wheelbase X1, as its name suggests, has a 112mm longer wheelbase than the standard model (2,692mm). While China gets the long-wheelbase X1 and the iX1, India is the first right-hand-drive market to get the long-wheelbase iX1. This launch also marks the introduction of BMW India’s first locally made EV and confirms our report that BMW was considering introducing LWB SUVs in the country.

Considering that the iX1 LWB is available in M Sport form, it has aggressive front and rear bumpers, along with 18-inch M alloys shod in 225/55 R18 tyres. Design highlights include the slim adaptive LED headlights, a mesh pattern for the ‘kidney’ grille and the 3D LED tail-lights. While the width is the same as the standard X1, the wheelbase is 112mm longer at 2,800mm, and the overall length is 116mm more at 4,616mm. BMW offers the iX1 LWB in five metallic colour options – Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, M Carbon Black, M Portimao Blue and Sparkling Copper Grey.

Inside, the LWB electric X1 has a familiar setup, with the driver-oriented ‘Widescreen Curved Display’ comprising a digital 10.25-inch instrument display and a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen. Feature highlights on this EV include a panoramic sunroof, rear seats that recline up to 28.5 degrees and have a 40:20:40 split-folding function, dual-zone climate control, a 205W 12-speaker Harman Kardon system and Veganza leatherette upholstery. The safety suite includes Level 2 ADAS, a park assist feature, eight airbags, ISOFIX anchors and an electronic parking brake.
