Ferrari is expected to reveal its long-awaited first electric car in October. In an announcement accompanying the Italian carmaker’s 2024 financial results, its CEO Benedetto Vigna said Ferrari will “reveal more of our future on 9 October at our Capital Markets Day,”. However, he stopped short of confirming specific details. The Ferrari EV will be one of six new models due from the brand over the course of this year.

    First Ferrari EV: what’s known?

Unfortunately, not much is known about the vehicle. Last year, a camouflaged test mule was spied on the streets of Maranello, but the prototype was wearing the body shell of a Maserati Levante SUV, replete with even fake exhausts at the rear. Whether it will be comparable with the Levante in silhouette remains to be seen.

Ferrari says the electric prototype has already covered several thousand kilometres of testing, and Vigna told our sister publication, Autocar UK, that it will be made “in the right way” to ensure buyers can “have a lot of fun”.

Ferrari has added a new production line for manufacturing the EV in a new E-building at its Maranello campus. This new building will also be capable of producing combustion and hybrid models, beginning with the Purosangue, before the EV joins in 2026. Eventually, the plan is to produce high-voltage batteries, electric motors and axles, all in-house at this facility.

    Six new Ferraris for 2025

The EV aside, Ferrari has five new cars or special edition vehicles slated for a debut or launch this year. Having phased out production of the Portofino M, SF90 Stradale, 812 Superfast and Roma in 2024, the company is expected to showcase follow-ups to the Roma and SF90 this year. Ferrari will also commence deliveries of the F80 halo hypercar in the third quarter, so it seems like a busy period for the Prancing Horse brand.

At the financial results conference, Ferrari also revealed that 296 and SF90 hybrid model lines accounted for 51 percent of its total shipments, which stood at 13,752 units worldwide last year. The luxury carmaker’s revenue rose 12 percent.

In other news, we recently reported that the Ferrari 12Cilindri’s India price starts at Rs 8.5 crore ex-showroom for the coupe and goes up to Rs 9.15 crore for the open-top Spider version. You can read more about the 12Cilindri here
