Soon after Toyota revealed the prices for its all-new Glanza, it has confirmed that a CNG version of the hatchback is also on the way. A quick check with dealers confirms the development; however, launch could still be some time away.

    • Glanza CNG launch could be some time away
    • Will come with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine
    • Expected to deliver 25kpl with CNG fuel

Toyota Glanza CNG: What to expect

Like its petrol counterpart, the Glanza CNG will come with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine. While engine outputs are not known as of now, we expect the CNG variant to be slightly less on power.  The Glanza CNG will most likely come only with a five-speed manual gearbox and is expected to be offered in multiple variants to attract a wide set of customers.

Additionally, the website also reveals that the Glanza “e-CNG” will deliver 25kpl. The recently facelifted Toyota Camry hybrid does 23.27kpl.

Introductory prices for the new Glanza line-up start at Rs 6.39 lakh, and go up to Rs 9.69 lakh (ex-showroom, India). We expect the Glanza CNG to be priced around Rs 75,000 more than its equivalent petrol counterpart.

The petrol-powered Glanza is being built by Maruti for Toyota, alongside the 2022 Baleno, at the Suzuki Motor Gujarat plant, and we expect the same for the CNG variant. We also expect the Baleno CNG to hit Maruti’s Nexa showrooms in the coming months.

If the Glanza CNG launches before the Baleno CNG, it could be the first CNG-powered hatchback in the segment as its direct rivals  the Honda Jazz, the Hyundai i20 and the Tata Altroz  do not come with a factory CNG option as of now.
