Hyundai Exter CNG: what’s new?
Called the Exter Hy-CNG Duo, the SUV gets two small CNG cylinders – instead of one large unit – that opens up more space in the boot.
The introduction of the dual-cylinder technology has resulted in a price hike of Rs 7,000 for both the Exter S CNG and SX CNG variants. The CNG version also receives the recently launched Knight edition treatment, priced at Rs 9.38 lakh.
Hyundai Exter CNG powertrain, specs
The Exter CNG makes use of the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine as the standard car, but on CNG, its output is 69hp and 95.2Nm. The Exter CNG can only be had with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and claimed efficiency is 27.1km/kg.
The Exter CNG is the first car in Hyundai’s CNG line-up to receive the dual-cylinder setup. The Grand i10 Nios CNG and the Aura CNG are expected to receive a similar setup soon. A similar dual cylinder CNG setup is also seen on the Tata Altroz, Tiago, Tigor, as well as Exter's direct rival Punch.
