Hyundai India has updated its Verna midsize sedan with a new colour and a rear spoiler. Barring the entry-level variant, the prices of all other variants have increased by Rs 4,000. The Verna is now priced in the range of Rs 11 lakh (for the EX variant with the 1.5-litre petrol engine and manual gearbox) and Rs 17.48 lakh for the top-spec variant, the SX(O) DT with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and dual-clutch auto gearbox.

The new colour addition – called Amazon Grey – to the Verna’s range gives buyers eight monotone exterior options to choose from. The two dual-tone exterior finishes – Atlas White with black roof and Fiery Red with black roof – are unchanged and only offered with the turbo-petrol variants. Interestingly, one pays the same amount for the dual-tone and monotone variants.

Coming to the new rear spoiler, Hyundai has added a unit that looks a bit like an aftermarket one and gives the impression of being a split spoiler.

The Hyundai Verna sees no other changes. It continues with the 115hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine that has 6-speed manual and CVT options and the 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch auto options. The Korean brand’s midsize sedan rivals the Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Skoda Slavia.
