The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is all set to get a major update. The current 2.5-litre diesel engine will be replaced by a smaller but more powerful 1.9-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel that will make 160hp and 360Nm (up by 26hp and 40Nm). The new engine will also be BS-VI compliant, unlike the current-gen engine that's already discontinued in most markets around the world.

The new 1.9 diesel will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while a new 6-speed manual will replace the 5-speed manual unit.

According to dealers, the new Isuzu D-Max V-Cross automatic will be priced about Rs 2.5 lakh more than the current car, with an India launch expected late May or early June 2019. In markets like the UK, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross comes with a rear-wheel drive or two-wheel-drive setup as standard, but Indian-spec cars will get 4x4 or four-wheel drive as standard.

Other changes on the D-Max V-Cross will include an improved infotainment system that's expected to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Dual airbags are already part of the V-Cross' feature list but the updated model will get a seatbelt reminder for the passenger and a speed alert.
