Isuzu MU-X gets free 3-year extended warranty for its powertrain this month

The Isuzu MU-X is now available with a complementary extended warranty package covering the SUV’s powertrain. For the month of December 2019, Isuzu’s 5ecure scheme – which includes a comprehensive warranty and free periodic maintenance for 5 years/1.5 lakh kilometres – now comes free with an additional 3-year/50,000km warranty just for the powertrain.

The company has said that this extended warranty for the powertrain is only applicable on the BS4-compliant MU-X, which can be seen as a move by the company to clear existing stocks of its seven-seat SUV. The carmaker had previously announced that it would stop production of its BS4 SUVs and pick-ups at the end of the calendar year.

Isuzu originally launched the MU-X in India back in 2017, with a facelift being introduced a year later in the second-half of 2018. A rival to the Mahindra Alturas G4, Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner, the MU-X is available in two variants – 4X2 and 4X4 – both powered by a 177hp, 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine paired with 5-speed automatic gearbox as standard.
