With the revised prices, the starting price of the Meridian is almost Rs 10 lakh less than its closest rival – the Skoda Kodiaq. Despite the hike, the Meridian is still priced up to Rs 5 lakh less than the Kodiaq. The Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, is up to Rs 7 lakh more expensive than the Meridian.
Jeep Compass, Meridian powertrain remains unchanged
The Compass and Meridian share the same 2.0-litre diesel engine developing 170hp and 350Nm of torque. Both get an option to choose between either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, with both also getting a 4WD option.
However, of the two, only the Compass gets a petrol engine – a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol producing 163hp and 250Nm of torque. While it is solely mated to a 7-speed DCT now, it was earlier also available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which was discontinued in December 2022, likely due to low sales.
