However, while prices for other petrol trims remain unchanged, all diesel trims see a price hike of Rs 35,000. Here’s a detailed look at how the prices of all Compass variants have been affected:

With the wide price bracket of the Compass, it rivals the Tata Harrier and MG Hector at the lower end and competes with the Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 and Volkswagen Tiguan at the upper end. Despite the price drop, the Compass is still up to Rs 6 lakh more expensive than the starting price of the Harrier and MG. On the other end of the spectrum, the top-spec Compass is priced Rs 2.56 lakh, Rs 3.82 lakh and Rs 5.53 lakh less than the top-spec versions of the Tucson, Tigaun and C5, respectively.

    Jeep Meridian revised prices

Like the Compass, Jeep has also reduced the prices of the Meridian. The Meridian Limited trim with the manual gearbox sees a price drop of Rs 2.35 lakh, and is now priced at Rs 27.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The same trim with the automatic gearbox sees no change in price. All other trims see a uniform price hike of Rs 35,000. Here’s a detailed look at how the prices of all Meridian variants have changed:

With the revised prices, the starting price of the Meridian is almost Rs 10 lakh less than its closest rival – the Skoda Kodiaq. Despite the hike, the Meridian is still priced up to Rs 5 lakh less than the Kodiaq. The Toyota Fortuner, on the other hand, is up to Rs 7 lakh more expensive than the Meridian.

Jeep Compass, Meridian powertrain remains unchanged

The Compass and Meridian share the same 2.0-litre diesel engine developing 170hp and 350Nm of torque. Both get an option to choose between either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, with both also getting a 4WD option.

However, of the two, only the Compass gets a petrol engine – a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol producing 163hp and 250Nm of torque. While it is solely mated to a 7-speed DCT now, it was earlier also available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, which was discontinued in December 2022, likely due to low sales.
