Jeep has launched the Meridian facelift in India at an introductory starting price of Rs 24.99 lakh, ex-showroom, India. Unlike its predecessor, the updated Meridian comes in 5-seater and 7-seater configurations, which has helped bring down the starting price by a whopping Rs 6.24 lakh. The refreshed Meridian is available in four trims: Longitude, Longitude Plus, Limited (O) and Overland. The entry-level Longitude trim is only available as a 5-seater, and the other three trims are available only as a 7-seater.

It should also be noted that with the addition of a 5-seater option, there's a greater overlap with the smaller Compass SUV, which is currently priced between Rs 18.99 lakh and Rs 32.41 lakh.

On the outside, the Meridian now sports a mildly altered grille design – the honeycomb mesh in the iconic seven-slat grille now has chrome studs – and the 18-inch alloy wheels' design are similar to the Overland Edition of the pre-facelift model.

Although the cabin’s layout is unchanged, the dashboard gets a new suede finish with copper stitching and the seats get a new beige upholstery. Also, the chrome strip underlining the dashboard has been replaced with one that's finished in copper. The 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment are carried over, as are the 9-speaker Alpine audio system, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, and other creature comforts and tech.

The most notable change is the addition of Level 2 ADAS suite on the top-spec Overland trim that brings features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, among others. It also gets an expanded list of connected car tech, including Alexa Home to vehicle integration.

Jeep claims the new 5-seater variant has a boot space of 670 litres, while the 7-seater variants can offer up to 824 litres of space with the second row folded down. With all three rows in use, the 7-seater variants have a boot space of 170 litres.

The Meridian facelift remains mechanically unchanged and retains the outgoing model’s 170hp, 350Nm, 2.0-litre diesel engine. Six-speed manual and 9-speed automatic gearbox options are on offer, along with 4x2 and 4x4 variants.
