The Bharat NCAP has crash-tested the Mahindra BE 6, which has secured an impressive 5-star rating for both Adult and Child Occupant Protection. BNCAP also crash-tested the larger XEV 9e, which scored the same rating. Notably, the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) scores for both these SUVs are the highest awarded by BNCAP so far.
- The BE 6 secures 31.97/32 in Adult Occupant Protection
- Its Child Occupant Protection score is 45 out of 49
- It was rated ‘OK’ in the side pole impact test
Mahindra BE 6's Adult Occupant Protection
The BE 6 has secured 31.97 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), making it the second-highest AOP score after the XEV 9e, which received 32/32 points. The report noted that the protection provided to the driver’s and passenger’s head, neck, and chest regions was good, but the BE 6 lost points for offering 'adequate' protection to the driver’s knee. In the side movable deformable barrier test, it scored 16.00 out of 16.00, providing good protection overall.
In the side pole impact test, it was rated 'OK.' The BE 6 also complied with ESC test requirements. However, no comments were made on the integrity of the body shell or its ability to withstand further loadings at higher speeds.
Mahindra BE 6's Child Occupant Protection
In Child Occupant Protection, the BE 6 secured 45 out of 49 points, matching the XEV 9e, Thar Roxx, Skoda Kylaq and Tata Punch EV, the highest score so far. It got full points in the dynamic test (24/24) and CRS installation test (12/12), and scored 9 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment test. Both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old child dummies were tested in rearward-facing child seats positioned in the front passenger seat, secured by ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg.
Mahindra BE 6's safety features
As standard, the BE 6 comes equipped with six airbags, a rear camera, parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitor, and a driver drowsiness detection system. It also gets a seatbelt reminder for all seats, a manual airbag cutoff switch, and ISOFIX mounts on the rear seats. Higher variants get the Level 2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera, and an additional airbag, bringing the total count to seven.
Bharat NCAP tested the top-spec Pack Three variant with the 79kWh battery pack but says the rating applies to the smaller 59kWh variants as well. This report also reveals the full variant line-up of the BE 6 – the 59kWh battery will be standard across Pack One, Two and Three, while the larger 79kWh battery will be limited to just Pack Three.
