The Scorpio has been a workhorse in the Mahindra stable since its inception in 2002. The more recently updated Scorpio Classic has been in high demand since its launch last year, and as a result, the waiting periods have increased as well. As per the latest reports, the waiting periods go up to around 7 months for both variants of the Scorpio Classic, the S and the S11.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic engine, variants, price
The Scorpio Classic is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 132hp and 300Nm of peak torque. Paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the SUV misses out on an automatic gearbox and the 4x4 option that's available on the Scorpio N. In April 2023, the Scorpio range (including the Scorpio N) was the bestseller in the Mahindra line-up, selling 9,617 units, which was better than even the Bolero, Thar and XUV700.
The Scorpio Classic's prices start at Rs 12.99 lakh for the base S variant, with the top-spec S11 variant costing Rs 16.81 lakh. Both variants come in a variety of seating options with the Scorpio S getting a 7- and 9-seater option, and the S11 is exclusively a 7-seater. Although, the S11 gets the option for captain chairs whereas the S trim gets just side-facing chairs. There have been reports of Mahindra launching a new mid-spec variant, dubbed the S5, this year.
