Maruti Suzuki has slashed the prices of its AMT cars by Rs 5,000. The price cut is valid for its cars sold through both Nexa and Arena dealerships, including Baleno, Fronx, Wagon R, Dzire, Alto K10 and more.

    1. Price reduction limited to Maruti’s AGS (AMT) models only
    2. Newly launched Swift only AMT car to be excluded from the price cut

As per Maruti Suzuki, only 10 percent of Arena customers opt for an automatic car, while the number is double for Nexa buyers. To further increase the adoption of its AMT models, Maruti has reduced the prices by up to Rs 5,000 across the entire AGS range, barring the newly launched Swift. For the uninitiated, Maruti calls its AMT gearbox 'AGS', which stands for Auto Gear Shift.

Maruti sold close to 1.32 lakh AGS models last year. The company says that it foresees a growth of 15-20 percent in the financial year after this price revision. “We want more and more customers at the entry-level also to upgrade to the automatic variants,” said Partho Banerjee, sales and marketing head, Maruti Suzuki.

Maruti AMT price cut: cars, SUVs included

The cars and SUVs that witness the price reduction include the Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon R, Dzire, Ignis, Baleno and Fronx. Models such as Brezza, Ertiga, Ciaz and XL6 are offered with a torque converter automatic transmission, and hence, are not included in the price cut. The new prices are effective from June 1, 2024. Prices for Maruti's AMT range earlier started from Rs 5.56 lakh for the Alto K10 VXI automatic. However, the entry point to Maruti's AMT range will now start from Rs 5.51 lakh.

Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will launch a new Dream Edition variant for three models – the Alto K10, S-Presso, and Celerio – all of which will be priced at Rs 4.99 lakh. This would result in the Celerio’s price reducing by Rs 38,000 as the entry-level LXI is currently priced at Rs 5.37 lakh. The limited-run Dream Edition models will be available during the month of June only.
