The Maserati MC20 supercar has been confirmed for an India launch. The company’s India dealer partner confirmed the car’s upcoming launch via invites sent out to prospective customers. The carmaker had previously expressed its intentions to bring the supercar to India last year, as it looked to expand its footprint in the country.
Maserati MC20 powered by Maserati’s first in-house-developed engine in over 20 years
3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 develops 630hp and 730Nm
Maserati claims a 0-100kph time of 2.9sec
Maserati has commenced accepting bookings for its mid-engine supercar with deliveries expected to commence from early 2022.
Maserati MC20: what is it?
Essentially the successor to the 2004 MC12 supercar, the mid-engine MC20 is the brand’s first car in over 20 years to feature an in-house-developed engine. The unit, named Nettuno, in reference to the Roman god Neptune whose trident inspired the brand’s logo, is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 pumping out 630hp and 730Nm of torque. The power is channelled to the rear wheels via an 8-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Maserati claims a 0-100kph time of just 2.9sec and a top speed in excess of 325kph.
In terms of design, the MC20 gets a rather clean look, with flowing lines and minimal use of aerodynamic appendages, save for a small rear spoiler for improved downforce.
The cabin follows a minimalist design, with two 10-inch displays – one for the instrument cluster and the other for the touchscreen – and a limited number of physical buttons on the dashboard and centre console.
Maserati MC20: rivals
The MC20 will go up against mid-engine supercars from rival brands, such as the Lamborghini Huracan.
