MG Hector Blackstorm Edition: what’s new?

As the name suggests, the Hector Blackstorm Edition comes finished in a Starry-black exterior colour shade, and swaps the chrome details with a gun-metal finish accentuated by red highlights. This treatment extends to the grille, the MG logo, the lining on the bumpers, the cladding at the base of the doors, the trim connecting the tail-lamps at the rear and the faux skid plates.

The headlamps and tail-lamps also get a smoked-out finish. Additionally, there are red highlights on the wing mirrors, the headlamp enclosure and the brake calipers. Meanwhile, the 18-inch alloys and the roof rails get a new gloss black finish. Customers can also get a ‘Blackstorm’ emblem fitted on the front fenders at the dealership at no extra cost.

On the inside, the Hector gets an all-black treatment with gun metal accents on the centre console, AC vents, door trims and the steering wheel. The seats also get black leatherette upholstery with ‘Blackstorm’ embossed on the front headrests.

    MG Hector Blackstorm Edition: features

Being based on the second-from-top Sharp Pro trim, the Hector Blackstorm Edition comes equipped with the 14-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, digital driver’s display, LED projector headlamps, LED connected tail-lamps, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, push button engine start/stop and a smart key.

MG Hector Blackstorm Edition: powertrain options

The Hector Blackstorm Edition is available with the petrol-CVT and diesel-MT powertrains. That means you get the 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a CVT gearbox, or a 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual. You get the Blackstorm treatment in the 5-, 6- and 7-seater configurations, but the petrol-MT powertrain misses out on this edition.

    MG Hector Blackstorm Edition: rivals

Black Editions of SUVs are becoming increasingly popular across segments, and among the Hector’s rivals that includes the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700 and Jeep Compass; apart from the Alcazar, all other SUVs get their own Black Edition variant.
