MG India will announce the prices of the Hector facelift on January 11 at Auto Expo 2023. The brand recently showcased the SUV, which now sports a refreshed exterior and interior, along with new feature updates. The Hector was launched back in 2019 and received its first update in 2021.

    3. Engines remain mechanically unchanged

MG Hector facelift: exterior and interior details

The Hector facelift features a revised front end with a large diamond-mesh grille that is complemented by prominent chrome surrounds at the top. In profile, the refreshed Hector remains identical to the outgoing model, with even the alloy wheel design being the same. It's at the rear where the SUV gets updates in the form of LED inserts which connect the tail-lamps and the prominent 'Hector' badging.

The interior of the Hector facelift sees the biggest change – it features a new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the largest in any car sold in India so far. This system now supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other interior highlights include a revised dashboard, featuring a double-layered design with horizontally positioned D-shaped AC vents, a revised centre console with a new stack of physical buttons and new graphics for the 7.0-inch digital driver’s display. The facelifted Hector is available in 5-, 6-, and 7-seater options in dual-tone brown and black colours.

MG Hector facelift: powertrain and ADAS tech

Similar to other models in the brand’s line-up – like the Gloster, ZS EV and Astor – the Hector facelift gets Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This technology includes safety features like lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning and lane departure warning. It also gets a feature called Traffic Jam Assist, which, when activated, helps the SUV stop and go when it senses slow-moving traffic ahead.

When it comes to engine options, the Hector continues with the same 143hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that is available with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. However, the MG Hector facelift no longer gets the mild-hybrid powertrain. The diesel engine also remains the same – a 170hp, 2.0-litre unit that's shared with the Harrier, Safari and Compass, and is offered only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

    MG Hector facelift: rivals

The MG Hector facelift is expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh-20 lakh. It will rival the likes of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, and newer rivals like the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It will also compete against three-row SUVs like the XUV700 and Safari.
