Mini Countryman Electric: platform, exterior, interior

The Mini Countryman has so far been available only with a petrol powertrain in India. The Countryman electric shares its underpinnings with the BMW iX1, which will be one of its rivals upon arrival.

Changes to the new Mini Countryman are similar to the new Cooper, like the octagonal front grille, and revamped headlights and tail-lights. The interior features a minimalist look, with the dashboard dominated by a round touchscreen. Just like the India-bound Cooper S, the gear selector on the Countryman is also placed on the panel below the infotainment, alongside the handbrake button, turn-key starter, driving mode selector and audio-control dial.

The new Countryman electric will also offer ADAS features, in-car camera, electric seat adjustment with massage function for driver, and more.

Mini Countryman Electric: powertrain, price, rivals

Mini offers the all-electric Countryman with two powertrain options – a single-motor, front-wheel-drive version with 204hp and 250Nm, and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive version with 313hp and 494Nm. It is yet to be seen which of these two will be brought to India. Both feature a 66.45kWh battery, and offer official ranges of 462km and 433km, respectively.

The petrol-powered Mini Countryman currently starts at Rs 48.10 lakh (ex-showroom), however, the all-electric new-gen is expected to carry a higher price tag. It will rival similarly sized EVs such as the BMW iX1, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
