The Nissan X Trail is returning to India, with a launch likely later this month. We recently learnt more about the fourth-gen SUV’s extensive features list and seven-seat layout, but we now also know what colours will be available to buyers in India.
- 2024 Nissan X trail to come in three colours
- Gets a seven-seat layout and panoramic sunroof
- Will be a CBU import, at an expected price of Rs 40-45 lakh
The 2024 Nissan X Trail will be sold in just three colours here in India, although many more options are available for the model overseas. Moreover, as the model will be a CBU import, there should be little reason not to offer the full range of shades, but it’s not without reason, according to Nissan.

The colours available will be Diamond Black, Champagne Silver and Pearl White, and these were chosen to better position the X Trail as a premium offering while helping to highlight its return to a more “authentic SUV” look, according to Alfonso Albaisa, SVP Nissan Design.
New Nissan X Trail brings back upright design
In a roundtable discussion with Indian media, Albaisa described how the third-generation X Trail, which was not launched in India, moved to a curvier, more crossover-like look, in keeping with market trends at the time (2014) and the rest of the brand’s model range.
The new, fourth-generation X Trail leans back to the first and second-generation models, both of which were sold in India, which had a more upright, bold and square-shouldered look. While not outright boxy, the new SUV is “almost a [body-on] frame SUV; it's not, but it’s started to take on that look again”.

Rugged elements in the form of cladding on the wheel arches and bumpers, as well as scuff plates, are balanced out by more modern touches like metallic trim, Nissan’s ‘V-Motion’ grille finished in gloss black, and the split LED headlamps, and it’s this duality, says Albaisa, that sets the X Trail apart from its rivals.
Speaking of which, the 2024 Nissan X Trail will rival other seven-seat SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster, and we expect it to have a price somewhere between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
