New Mini John Cooper Works: powertrain, specs
The new Mini JCW makes use of the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as the standard Cooper, however, has been uprated to produce 231hp and 380Nm of peak torque - 27hp and 80Nm higher than the standard hatch. The outputs remain the same as the outgoing JCW model though. It retains the 7-speed DCT from its predecessor.
The Mini John Cooper Works can sprint from 0-100kph in 6.1 seconds, while the JCW convertible will take 6.4 seconds to do the same. The former has a top speed of 250kph, while the latter can go up to 245kph.
New Mini John Cooper Works: exterior, interior design
Over the standard Cooper, the JCW version gets a blacked-out front grille with the three-colour John Cooper Works logo along with wide air vents. It gets unique JCW specific LED DRLs that help distinguish it further from the standard model. At the rear, the John Cooper Works comes equipped with a new rear spoiler, a black rear diffuser, and a centrally positioned tailpipe. The JCW can be had with either 17-inch or optional 18-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, it gets a red and black theme with JCW sports seats upholstered in black synthetic leather with multi-coloured knitted fabric and red stitching. It also gets a special JCW sports steering wheel, while the overall cabin layout is unchanged, as compared to the standard version.
Pricing for the new Mini JCW starts from GBP 31,200 (Rs 33.91 lakh) in the UK. The British carmaker is yet to reveal when the new John Cooper Works will be brought in India, however, a launch could take place next year.
