New Skoda Kodiaq powertrains
The Kodiaq will now get a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 150hp, 1.5-litre TSI engine mated to a 25.7kWh battery. Combined, it will produce 204hp and will be mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The plug-in hybrid, which will be called the Kodiaq iV, will have a range of more than 100km, as per Skoda.
The 1.5 TSI will also power the entry-level Kodiaq, but there it will get a mild-hybrid system and a 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic. Skoda will offer one more petrol engine option – a 204hp, 2.0-litre TSI that will come with a 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic and a four-wheel-drive system.
Skoda will also offer two diesel powertrains. Both will get a 2.0-litre TDI engine mated to a 7-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The entry-level version will produce 150hp, while the higher-spec engine will produce 193hp and also get a four-wheel-drive system.
New Skoda Kodiaq exterior, dimensions
The camouflaged images don’t reveal the full design of the second-gen Kodiaq, but it does hint at some of the elements. The SUV will get a new grille that looks similar to the ones seen on the Slavia and Kushaq, however, it gets thicker, vertical slats. The Kodiaq continues with the split headlamp design and now a matrix LED unit. The front bumper can be seen with a radar sensor, hinting that it could come with an ADAS suite. The bumper can also be seen with an air curtain below the headlamps.
Skoda has also redesigned the glasshouse of the Kodiaq with an upwards kink in the window line after the rear doors. The second-gen Kodiaq will also have a redesigned D-pillar and a new look for the tail-lights.
The second-gen Kodiaq measures 4,758mm in length – 61mm and 59mm longer than before compared to the 5-seat and 7-seat versions, respectively. Other dimensions remain the same – 1,864mm width, 1,657mm height and a wheelbase of 2,791mm. Third-row passengers will now have 15mm more headroom, at 920mm. The 5-seat version will have a boot space of 910 litres and the 7-seat version’s boot space will range between 340-845 litres.
New Skoda Kodiaq interior and features
While the images Skoda released are only of the second-gen Kodiaq's exterior, the carmaker has revealed some features. The Kodiaq now gets a steering column-mounted drive selector, a new 12.9-inch touchscreen with a display cleaner as well as a heads-up display.
The rear seats passengers will now get a storage compartment on the central tunnel with a cup holder. The second-gen model will continue to get the door edge protector and an umbrella storage compartment in the driver’s door.
Additionally, Skoda says the Kodiaq will continue to offer 5- and 7-seat configurations.
