The launch of the next-generation BMW Z4 is looming, and as it gets closer, we are getting hints of what the Z4 might look like. The roadster has been spotted time and again doing its testing and wearing a lot of camouflage. There have also been a number of renders which have surfaced and give us some idea of what styling BMW would employ.
Now though, BMW has officially teased the Z4 and say it will be revealed at Pebble Beach. In the Instagram post by BMW, we see the outline of the two-seat roadster. BMW has not explicitly mentioned that this is a BMW Z4, but looking at the image, there are a couple of details which indicate it is one. The short rear deck, long bonnet, pointy nose and low stance are some key factors to insinuate it is the Z4.
The shape seen in the image is quite a bit different from the Z4 seen in spy shots. The front-end is sharper and the whole car is lower and sleeker, which indicates it could be a concept. Previous spy shots have shown the car will have a more stylish front-end with a larger grille and flanked by sweptback headlights. It will also feature slim taillights and a dual exhaust system.
The company has not revealed it as yet, but the new Z-series will be made on a new platform co-developed by BMW and Toyota.
Speculations on the interior include the car having a three-spoke steering wheel, a larger infotainment system, and a wide centre console.
The roadster is expected to be lighter, faster and sharper than the outgoing model and will be available in four-cylinder and six-cylinder variants with rear wheel drive as standard.
