The MG Astor SUV, also known as the MG ZS overseas, is all set to receive a generational update soon. Leaked patent images confirm that the new MG Astor will feature a fresh design language.

    1. MG Astor will get a major overhaul in the coming year
    2. New ZS EV to follow later
    3. MG Cloud EV coming to India this year

Next-gen MG Astor gets new design language

The new Astor features a revamped fascia with a new grille, a sportier-looking bumper and redesigned headlamps. The bonnet appears slightly longer than the current version, while the nose is flatter; the grille and bumper design seem to be inspired by the MG3 hatchback.

Moving to the sides, the midsize SUV flaunts new alloy wheels, lane watch cameras on the wing mirror and a new shoulder line that curves upwards at the rear. The glass area also looks slightly bigger than before. At the rear, the wraparound tail-lamps, tailgate and bumper get a new design.

    Next-gen MG Astor launch timeline

There is no official word from MG Motor regarding the launch of the next-gen Astor in India, but we expect it will take place in 2026 after the updated SUV makes its global debut late next year. Similar updates will also be carried over to the MG ZS EV, which is essentially the fully electric version of the Astor.

MG is also expected to introduce a strong-hybrid powertrain for the new Astor in India. The new Astor is one of the eight products that MG has planned to launch in India between 2025-2028. Others include the new Hector and Gloster, a new MPV, a new sedan, the Cyberster electric sports car, and more.

The Astor is currently priced from Rs 9.98 lakh to Rs 17.90 lakh (ex-showroom), and rivals the Creta, Grand Vitara, Seltos, Elevate, Kushaq and the Taigun.
