Skoda will release the first set of details and images of the new Superb on November 2, and has shared sketches of the car’s final design ahead of its global debut. The all-new Superb will go on sale internationally early next year, however, Skoda is preparing to relaunch the current-gen model in India in the coming months.
- New Superb gets a 13-inch touchscreen
- Engines include 3 petrol, 2 diesels and 1 PHEV
The new Superb gets its design cues from the current crop of Skoda models that feature the brand’s Modern Solid design theme. Key highlights of the new Superb include better ergonomics, more cabin room and added practicality.
New Skoda Superb interior
On the inside, the Superb will get an all-new interior with better quality materials, customisable rotary controllers, an all-new infotainment system and sustainable materials. The rotary controllers – three in number – are knobs that Skoda has positioned below the 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, featuring a 32mm digital display.
Skoda says that the two outer knobs can be set to control seat heating, while the one in the centre can be used to adjust the infotainment volume, fan speed, air conditioning, driving modes and the zoom function on the sat-nav.
Elsewhere, the new Superb gains four USB-C ports, massage seats and four-way adjustable lumbar support. The gear selector is now positioned on the steering column.
New Skoda Superb exterior
On the outside, there is an extensive design overhaul as seen in the sketches, although the only details confirmed at this stage are new, thin daytime running lights and redesigned rear lights.
The new Superb shares much of its architecture with the jointly developed Volkswagen Passat (not on sale in India anymore). The styling is still smart but updated (such as with slimmer headlights and tail-lights) to bring it in line with the new Kodiaq, launching at a similar time.
As far as powertrain options go, the new Skoda Superb’s global engine line-up will have three petrol engines, two diesels and a plug-in hybrid, all fitted with an automatic gearbox as standard.
New Skoda Superb: India launch details
While the new Skoda Superb will be revealed next month, but, as mentioned earlier, the carmaker will bring back the outgoing Superb to India. The current-gen Superb was discontinued due to the implementation of BS6 Phase-II emissions norms that came into effect from April 1, 2023. Back in May this year, the brand had exclusively confirmed to us that it is evaluating a plan to reintroduce the Superb in the Indian market. The Superb sedan that’s headed here will be sold as a full import and will be available in limited numbers.
