British carmaker Rolls-Royce has introduced their latest model, the Cullinan, in India at Rs 6.95 crore (ex-showroom, pan-India). The uber-luxurious SUV is built on the brand’s new “Architecture of Luxury” platform which is shared with the new Phantom.

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan has large dimensions, measuring 5,341mm in length, 2,164mm in width with a 3,295mm long wheelbase. From the front, the Cullinan is unmistakably a Rolls-Royce. There’s the large iconic chrome Rolls-Royce grille upon which sits the “Spirit of Ecstasy” hood ornament. There are rectangular LED headlights and large air intakes below them. On the sides, Rolls-Royce has equipped the Cullinan with its signature suicide doors that open opposite to each other. Also, there are 22-inch alloy wheels on offer along with plenty of chrome detailing. At the back, the Cullinan gets a roof-mounted spoiler, vertically stacked LED tail-lights and dual exhaust ports.

On the inside, the Cullinan gets a near-identical cabin to the Phantom. It is finished in bespoke leather, wood and metal trims of the highest quality. The cabin of the Cullinan sports an all-digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system (a first of Rolls-Royce), the trademark analogue clock on the dash and the rotary Spirit of Ecstasy controller for the infotainment system. India-spec Cullinans will come with 12-inch rear entertainment screens as standard, which is an optional extra abroad. Boot space is set at 560 litres and can be extended to 1,930 litres by folding the rear seats.

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is powered by a 6.75-litre V12 petrol engine that puts out 571hp and 850Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Cullinan is also the first Rolls-Royce to feature four-wheel-drive. It gets a self-levelling air-suspension and multiple off-road modes ensuring that the passengers travel in utmost comfort, no matter what the terrain is like. The SUV also gets four-wheel steering to aid driving dynamics.

Buyers can customise the Cullinan to their personal taste by selecting from a comprehensive menu of hides, colours and equipment as optional extras. These extras could easily add up to Rs 1 crore to the Cullinan’s price tag. Deliveries of the SUV will begin sometime in 2019.
