Skoda has rejigged the variant line-up of its seven-seater Kodiaq SUV. The Kodiaq was previously available in three trims – Style, Sportline and L&K. However, it will now be offered only in the top-spec version, and the prices have also been revised.
- Range-topping Kodiaq L&K costs Rs 2 lakh less
- Available in a single, fully loaded variant
- No mechanical changes
The Skoda Kodiaq L&K was previously priced at Rs 41.99 lakh, but it has now received a Rs 2 lakh price cut, effectively costing Rs 39.99 lakh. No changes have been made to the SUV apart from the price revision and variant rejig.
The Kodiaq gets 190hp, 320Nm, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that's mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. The Kodiaq SUV is currently Skoda’s flagship offering in India, and rivals the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Hyundai Tucson and MG Gloster.
Skoda future plans: compact SUV
On the other end of its portfolio, Skoda is currently working on introducing a new compact SUV to take on the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon, among others. The sub-4-metre was also recently spied on test, revealing a few design details. We already know that it will be available with the 115p, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine.
Based on the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the Kushaq, the yet-to-be-named compact SUV will go on sale in March 2025. We expect it to be priced between Rs 9 lakh-14 lakh (ex-showroom), which will put it on par with most of its rivals. The entry-level Skoda SUV will also likely be exported to markets like South America, South-East Asia and Africa, among others.
