Skoda India will reintroduce the current-gen Superb sedan in our market in limited numbers in the coming months, our sources tell us. Sales of the current-gen Superb were discontinued with the implementation of stringent BS6 Phase II emissions norms that came into effect from April 1, 2023. The brand had exclusively confirmed to us back in May this year that it is evaluating a plan to reintroduce the Superb in the Indian market.

    1. Superb's 2.0-liter petrol to be BS6 stage II compliant
    2. Will come with ADAS and a 360-degree camera
    3. Will be sold in fully loaded L&K variant only

Skoda Superb will be sold as a CBU

Unlike before, the Superb will not be locally assembled in India, but will be imported as a CBU (completely built unit). Skoda will bring the new Superb to India under the government's GSR 870 rule that allows manufacturers to import a total of 2,500 units of any right-hand-drive vehicle falling under M and L category, without any homologation requirement.

Thus, Skoda India will be able to bring the Superb back with the updated 2.0-litre TSI engine – good for 190hp and mated to a sole 7-speed DSG gearbox – without homologating it.

The current-gen Skoda Superb is at the fag-end of its life cycle and its reintroduction is a stop-gap measure by Skoda as the all-new fourth-gen Superb will see a global debut in the coming months. Skoda has already revealed next-gen Superb's interior and equipment details, recently.

Will be first Skoda to get ADAS in India

The upcoming Skoda Superb will have more features too, and the Czech brand will reintroduce it in only the top-spec L&K trim. The Superb will also get ADAS features – a first for a Skoda in India – that include lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control with speeds up to 210kph. It will also get park assist with a 360-degree camera.

Only three exterior paint shade options will be available – Rosso Brunello (New), Water World Green (New) and Magic Black. The standard alloy wheel size will be 17-inch, made by Stratos. It will also get a Columbus Infotainment system, which wasn't available in the made-in-India Superb. Additionally, Skoda's adaptive chassis control tech will be standard, along with the active tyre pressure monitoring system and nine airbags.

    Skoda Superb expected price

Some dealers we spoke to are accepting unofficial bookings for the sedan, with prices being quoted around the Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom) mark. Expect more details on the Superb’s re-launch to surface in the coming weeks.
