Tata Motors has showcased the Avinya X concept, which will likely be the first model from a new family of premium EVs, at the ongoing Auto Expo 2025. This electric concept has the form factor of a large coupe-SUV and looks completely different from the wagon-like concept shown in 2022. The first model from Tata’s Avinya range is expected to hit showrooms in 2026.
The Avinya X displayed at the event is still in the concept stage, so the design is very striking. It sits high from the ground, has sharply raked front and rear windscreens, and the body panels appear smooth but muscular. However, the most defining design element seems to be the expanded ‘T’ logo at the front and rear that doubles up as an LED lighting signature. The rest of the front and rear fascia has a very clean look contrasted by gloss black finishes on the bumpers.
The bumper’s edges have two slim horizontal strips of daytime running lamps with Matrix technology, which improves visibility during the night. In profile, the coupe-like silhouette with a contrasting finish for the C-pillar and the large dual-tone wheels also look very attractive. It also gets a few active-aero elements to further aid efficiency.
On the inside, the Avinya gets a new two-spoke steering wheel with a large centre boss and a floating central infotainment screen that looks very similar to the one in the Range Rover SUV. Spanning the dashboard’s width is a slim band of screen, which serves instrumentation duties. The dashboard has a dual-tone finish with concealed AC vents, and the overall theme is quite minimalistic. The concept car was showcased with a lounge-like 4-seater layout. Tata Motors has also used sustainable materials for parts of the interior.
Expect the production-spec model to come with vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger and multi-zone auto AC. It will also likely feature a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite.
There aren’t many technical details available yet, but we know that the Avinya X will be underpinned by JLR’s EMA platform. Expect it to have a large battery pack option with at least 500km of range and fast-charging capabilities. The platform will be scalable, meaning that it can be configured with multiple battery pack options.
