Tata Motors has confirmed it will add a CNG powertrain to its popular Nexon compact SUV this financial year. The upcoming Nexon CNG was showcased in near-production form as the Nexon iCNG concept at the Bharat Mobility show earlier this year.

    1. Nexon will be India's first turbocharged CNG vehicle
    2. Will be squarely aimed at the Maruti Brezza CNG

The Nexon CNG will maintain identical exterior and interior designs as well as equipment lists to the standard SUV. However, there could be a few CNG-related mechanical upgrades to the suspension, along with a couple of iCNG badges to distinguish it within the lineup.

It will have the same 1.2-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine as its petrol variants, making it India's first CNG vehicle with a turbocharged engine. While Tata Motors recently introduced AMT variants of the Tiago and Tigor CNG, it's uncertain if the Nexon CNG will also have the same gearbox option

Once launched, the Nexon will stand alone in India for offering such a diverse range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel and CNG with multiple gearbox choices, along with an all-electric version. It will compete with the Brezza CNG.

Tata Motors will also introduce the Curvv in both electric and ICE iteration along with the Tata Harrier EV this financial year.
