The Nexon EV, which was Tata Motors’ blockbuster product until not too long ago, is seeing some strong headwinds – not only from rival products of other brands but also Tata’s recently launched Curvv EV. While many had expected consumers’ preference to shift towards the Curvv, it has happened faster than predicted despite its higher pricing.
- Top-spec Nexon EV price on par with Curvv EV Accomplished variant
- Curvv EV gets more range and a bigger battery
- Curvv EV Empowered + A most booked so far
What are Tata Nexon EV buyers upgrading to?
Dealers tell us that a majority of customers who have booked a Nexon EV or were looking to buy it wish to upgrade to the Curvv EV. Most of them are those who were interested in the Nexon EV’s higher variants, especially the top-spec Empowered + LR with a 40.5kWh battery and a claimed range of 465km, which has an ex-showroom price of Rs 19.29 lakh and retails at slightly above Rs 20 lakh (on-road), depending on the city. This variant is available at a discount of around Rs 1.5 lakh at most locations, bringing its on-road price to nearly Rs 19 lakh.
On the other hand, the mid-spec Curvv EV Accomplished 55 variant costs Rs 19.25 lakh ex-showroom and around Rs 20.20 lakh on-road. A handful of Nexon EV customers are also upgrading to the Curvv EV Accomplished 45 variant with a smaller 45kWh battery and a claimed 502km range, priced at Rs 18.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and around Rs 19.5 lakh on-road.

As for features, the Curvv EV Accomplished trim misses out on cooled front seats, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, a sunroof, and a few other features over the smaller but feature-laden top-spec Nexon EV. Despite having less features, customers who are looking for an electric SUV at that price point are opting for the Curvv thanks to additional cabin and cargo space and fresh looks over the Nexon EV.
Tata Curvv EV: Most popular variant
The Curvv Empowered + variant with ADAS is seeing the highest demand. Most dealers we spoke to have reported a majority of Curvv bookings for this variant, which has an ex-showroom price of Rs 21.99 lakh and a waiting period of around eight weeks. Deliveries for Tata Curvv EV have commenced yesterday.
