Tata Motors has just revised prices for its all-electric hatchback, the Tiago EV, and we now know the exact prices for each variant. The Indian brand claimed that it was passing on a reduction in battery cell prices to the customer, which has resulted in a price cut for its EV line-up. Here’s what each trim is now priced at:

    XZ+ Tech Lux LR (with 7.2 kW charger)Rs 11.89 lakhRs 12.09 lakhRs 20,000

Prices for the two Tiago EV MR variants – which get the 19.2kWh battery pack – have reduced by up to Rs 70,000, while prices for the five LR variants – with the 24kWh battery – have uniformly reduced by Rs 20,000.

With the smaller battery, the Tiago EV has an MIDC range of 250km, and comes powered by a 61hp, 110Nm motor. The 24kWh Tiago EV goes a claimed 315km on a single charge and has a 75hp, 114Nm motor powering the front wheels.

Despite the decrease in price, the MG Comet EV is still the most affordable all-electric vehicle in India; it’s now priced from Rs 6.99 lakh-8.58 lakh after the company slashed prices by up to Rs 1.4 lakh recently. However, when the two EVs went head-to-head, the Tata had a wider appeal for its well-roundedness and practicality, while the quirky and cool Comet is worth your consideration as a secondary urban runabout. In addition, the Tiago.ev consistently outsells the Comet EV month on month by a significant amount, reflecting Indian buyer preferences.
