India’s premier motor show, the Auto Expo 2025, is underway, and some big names have shown important models specifically for our market. Here’s a lowdown of all the key launches, unveils and concepts from the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.
BMW
BMW launched its first locally assembled EV, the iX1 LWB, at Rs 49 lakh for an introductory period. As its name suggests, the iX1 LWB has a 112mm longer wheelbase than the standard model. The iX1 LWB is powered by a 66.4kWh battery pack with an MIDC range of 531km. A 204hp, 250Nm front axle-mounted motor helps the SUV post a claimed 0-100kph time of 8.6 seconds.
On the second day of the Auto Expo, the German brand announced prices for the new-gen X3. Available in190hp xDrive20 petrol and 197hp xDrive20d variants and priced at Rs 75.80 lakh and Rs 77.80 lakh, respectively, deliveries for the fourth-gen X3 will bring in April.
BYD
Chinese giant BYD also made quite an impression at the Bharat Mobility Expo, announcing the commencement of bookings for the Sealion 7, and showcasing the Sealion 6 PHEV and the Yangwang U8 PHEV SUV. Prices for the BYD Sealion 7, which comes with a 82.5kWh and a maximum claimed range of 567km, are expected to to be announced by March.
Hyundai
Hyundai revealed prices for its first mass-market EV, the Creta Electric. Available in five variants, the Creta Electric is priced from Rs 17.99 lakh to 23.50 lakh. Hyundai offers the EV with two battery capacities: 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The smaller cell pack has an ARAI claimed range of 390km, while the Long Range (LR) offers a 473km range. The Korean brand also showcased the Staria MPV for the first time in India, and had the Ioniq 9, Creta 1.0 Flex Fuel and its micro 3W, 4W electric vehicles jointly developed with TVS at the motor show.
Isuzu
Japanese carmaker Isuzu is also present at the Auto Expo 2025 and has displayed an all-electric version of its D-Max pickup.
Kia
Kia Motors debuted the facelifted EV6, which is expected to go on sale later this year. Kia has tweaked the EV6’s design, and the car now has five additional autonomous features and a claimed range of 650km from its 84kWh battery. Another highlight of Kia at the Auto Expo was the Carnival Hi Limousine, which has been showcased to gauge customer feedback. The MPV sports an extended roof, which allows for more room and more comfort and convenience features. The brand also showcased the recently introduced Syros and its flagship EV9 SUVs.
Mahindra
The Indian SUV specialist had its new born EVs, the XEV 9e and the BE 6, at Auto Expo 2025. The former is a larger coupe-SUV that will rival the likes of the Tata Harrier EV, while the latter is a smaller mid-sized model that will see competition from the likes of the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Maruti e Vitara, and the recently launched Hyundai Creta Electric. While Mahindra has announced the base and top-spec variant's prices, the brand has yet to reveal the cost of the complete line-up. Both models also recently secured 5-star Bharat NCAP ratings.
Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki unveiled its first EV, the e Vitara SUV, with 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options, powered by front-axle mounted motors making 143hp and 173hp, respectively; torque is the same 192.5Nm on both. Maruti hasn’t yet revealed the range details, but it says the larger battery pack will offer an MIDC-rated range of over 500km.
The carmaker will reveal prices for the electric SUV in March, and the model will rival the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE 6. Its twin from Toyota, the Urban Cruiser EV, which has also been showcased at the Auto Expo, arrives later in the year.
The Maruti Suzuki stall at Auto Expo 2025 also had a number of special edition 'concepts' like the Swift Champions, the Invicto Executive, Brezza Powerplay, Jimny Conqueror, Grand Vitara Adventure, Dzire Urban Luxe, and the Fronx Turbo. All these come with minor cosmetic changes such as decals and stickers, along with accessories and different upholstery.
Mercedes
The Mercedes-Benz Concept CLA Class made its first India appearance at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. It is the first car on the new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), which is compatible with EV and ICE powertrains. The automaker has not released its battery size yet, but it promises a range of over 750 kilometres (WLTP cycle).
Mercedes also launched the new Maybach EQS SUV Night Series at Rs 2.63 crore. The all-electric G 580, which went on sale last week, the 476hp SL 55 4Matic+ Roadster and the 802hp S 63 E Performance are also on display at its pavilion.
MG Motor
The Cyberster is the highlight of MG’s stand at the Auto Expo. Pre-bookings have opened for MG’s first electric sports car, which will be sold exclusively via the MG Select premium showrooms. The brand also said official bookings will begin in March and confirmed that deliveries for the sporty EV will start in April.
MG has also showcased its M9 electric MPV, whose launch is slated for March, and the expected price tag is around Rs 65 lakh. The M9 will also be sold via MG’s Select retail network. The automaker also debuted the Gloster facelift, dubbed the Majestor. The three-row SUV gets a lot less chrome on the exterior than the Gloster. MG will position the Majestor above the Gloster when it arrives in the market. The brand also had the ZS HEV, MG 7 Trophy, IM 5 and IM 6 models on display at the show.
Porsche
German brand Porsche also has a wide range of models displayed at its stall. These include EVs like the new Macan and the Taycan facelift. Apart from EVs, Porsche has showcased the new-gen Panamera GTS, the 911 GT3 RS and the 992.2-gen 911 GTS T-hybrid.
Skoda
Skoda had plenty of big reveals at its stand at the Auto Expo. The Czech manufacturer debuted the new Kodiaq SUV ahead of its launch later this year. Shown in top-spec L&K form, the Kodiaq continues to use a 2.0-litre petrol engine, delivering 190hp, mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
Apart from the Kodiaq, the Elroq electric SUV is on display, making its India debut. While Skoda has not confirmed whether it will launch the Elroq here, it has brought the electric SUV to the expo to gauge customer response. The Vision 7S concept is also present.
Aside from these SUVs, Skoda has also displayed the new Superb and the Octavia RS sedans, and both are expected to launch in India later this year. Also making their debut are the Kylaq Monte Carlo and the Kushaq black edition.
Toyota
Toyota’s version of the Maruti e Vitara, the Urban Cruiser EV, also made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2025. Though the Urban Cruiser EV is closely related to the e Vitara, the soft parts differ, and its face looks completely different from its Maruti counterpart. The automaker did not reveal the electric SUV’s interior.
The Urban Cruiser EV comes with 49kWh and 61kWh battery options. The smaller battery gets a front axle-mounted 143hp motor, while the larger one packs a 173hp motor; torque is the same 193Nm on both. Official range figures are not yet out, but expect over 500km from the larger battery pack. Toyota will start selling the Urban Cruiser EV in India in the second half of the year, following the e Vitara’s launch this March.
Toyota has also showcased an all-black version of the Hilux pickup, the radical X-Van and bZ4X concepts, and the Land Cruiser 300 GR, among its India portolio and its technology demonstrators.
Tata Motors
Tata Motors’ stall is headlined by two big SUVs: the production-spec Harrier EV and the near-production-spec Sierra. The Harrier EV is based on a heavily modified version of its ICE platform, and it features EV-specific design details that set it apart from the ICE version. The show car at the expo comes finished in a matte black paint shade, which Tata is calling the Stealth Edition. The price announcement is expected by March.
The ICE Sierra on display has an eye-catching yellow shade. The reborn Tata Sierra will go on sale in India later this year. Tata has also showcased the Avinya X concept, and revealed that Avinya will be an independent luxury brand, and that the first model from the premium EV-only brand will be a Sportback and will hit showrooms next year.
VinFast
Along with showcasing nearly its entire global line-up at the Auto Expo, the Vietnam-based EV brand revealed that its first locally assembled models, the VF 7 and VF 6 SUVs, will launch in India after July 2025.
