Back in April, we had reported that Benelli was working on a model to plug the gap between the TRK 502 and the TRK 800 in the form of the TRK 702. We have now learned through leaked documents that this upcoming bike from Benelli is set to feature front and rear cameras.

    Benelli TRK 702: details

Powering this upcoming bike from Benelli will be a CFMoto-sourced engine displacing 693cc and is good for a peak power output of 75hp. This engine also does duty in the CFMoto 700CL-X where it makes 70.7hp and 61Nm. As is customary with Benelli adventure bikes, the TRK 702 will most likely be offered in two variants – a road-biased tourer and a more off-road specific version. The former rolls on 17-inch cast-alloy rims with a 120/70 tyre at the front and a 160/60 unit at the rear. The more off-road biased version gets spoked rims with  110/80-19 wheel at the front and a 150/70-17 wheel at the rear.

The talking point here, however, is the camera setup on this bike. These cameras are most likely intended to function as dash-cams, recording footage that can help you get out of a sticky situation in case you were to go down. The cameras are placed about where you would find radars on big adventure bikes like the Multistrada V4, for example. The front camera sits just below the headlight and the rear one is located right above the number-plate light.

While it is fairly uncommon to see cameras on bikes, the recently-launched Norton flagship sportbike, the V4SV, has a rear camera. This isn’t the first time Benelli has done so either, with the 1200GT tourer sold in China sporting similar tech.

With all said and done, the launch of this bike is still a few years away. If it does make its way to our shores, it will have to contend with the likes of the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT.
