The Hero Destini 125 scooter has been on sale for nearly 6 years, and during this time, it has remained largely unchanged, while both ICE and EV scooters have continued to raise the bar. Now, the company has teased an update for the Destini 125 on social media, which could perhaps be an all-new generation model.

    1. Is still a feature-rich and practical scooter
    2. Current model’s cycle parts feel outdated in 2024
    3. Priced between Rs 80,048 and Rs 86,538

    Hero Destini 125 update details

The current Destini 125 is powered by a 124.6cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 9.1hp at 7,000rpm and 10.4Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. For the most part, the Destini’s underpinnings are par for the course with an underbone frame suspended by a telescopic fork and monoshock. Weighing between 114kg and 115kg, the Destini 125 is substantially heavier than its immediate rivals: the Suzuki Access 125 (103kg-104kg), TVS Jupiter 125 (108kg), Yamaha Fascino 125 (99kg), and Honda Activa 125 (109kg-110kg).

Currently, the Hero Destini 125 rolls on 10-inch wheels and uses 130mm drum brakes at both ends, which feels a little long in the tooth in today’s scooter market – especially when its ICE rivals offer at least a 12-inch front wheel and an optional front disc brake. With the anticipated update, we expect the top variant of the Destini 125 to feature a 12-inch front wheel (if not both) and a front disc brake.

While some of its underpinnings are a little basic, the Destini 125 packs in a digi-analogue dash (Bluetooth-compatible on the XTEC variant), a USB charger, a pillion backrest, and two large storage cubbies on the front apron (similar to those on the Hero Xoom). We expect the updated Destini 125 to remain a feature-rich scooter, potentially with a few additions.

The Xoom was Hero’s latest new scooter, launched in early 2023, and we expect the Destini 125 to feature 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends and a front disc brake on the top model. With this update, some of these changes will likely be incorporated into the Destini 125, which may also get new styling. For the time being, it is priced at Rs 80,048 for the LX variant and Rs 86,538 for the XTEC variant. It remains to be seen if Hero will increase the price of the Destini 125 with this update. We will be riding the updated scooter next week, so stay tuned for our coverage.
