Kawasaki has launched the Versys 1100 in India at Rs 12.90 lakh, a few months after the Ninja 1100SX. The Versys 1100 is Rs 71,000 more than the Versys 1000, which it replaces.

- Versys 1100 is 19kg heavier than Ninja 1100SX

Powering the Versys 1100 is the same liquid-cooled, 1,099cc, inline-four motor as the Ninja 1100SX and this engine is in the same state of tune in both Kawasaki 1100s. Peak output stands at 135hp at 9,000rpm and 112Nm at 7,600rpm. This mill is mated to a revised 6-speed gearbox, with longer fifth and sixth cogs to suit the Versys’ intended role as a mile-muncher.
The Versys 1100 is identical to the 1000 in terms of its chassis and feature-set. With its 21-litre fuel tank brimmed, the bike weighs 257kg – 19 kilos more than the Ninja 1100SX. It has the same 820mm seat height as the Ninja but a higher 150mm of ground clearance.

A host of accessories are available such as integrated panniers, a bidirectional quickshifter, protective accessories, a taller windscreen and a touring seat. Deliveries for the Versys 1100 will begin by the end of this month.
At Rs 12.90 lakh, the Kawasaki Versys 1100 sits between the BMW F 900 XR (Rs 12.55 lakh) and the Rs 13.95 lakh Triumph Tiger 900 GT. Where the previous Versys 1000 (Rs 12.19 lakh) was slightly more expensive than the Ninja 1000SX (Rs 12.10 lakh), the Versys 1100 is Rs 59,000 more affordable than the Ninja 1100SX (Rs 13.49 lakh).
