Jeep has released details on the India-spec Wrangler facelift ahead of its launch. The refreshed rugged SUV gets a subtle makeover and more creature comforts, but it remains the same mechanically.
- Wrangler facelift gets all-black grille, new wheels and exterior colours
- Gets 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and 12-way powered front seats
- 270hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 8-speed auto remain unchanged
Jeep Wrangler facelift design highlights
The Wrangler has a new all-black grille and new alloy wheel designs (17-inch for the Rubicon and 18-inch for the Unlimited). In addition, Jeep says they’ve also fitted the SUV with a Gorilla glass windshield as standard, and added more exterior paint finishes to choose from: the outgoing model had launched with five options – Bright White, Sting Grey, Granite Crystal, Black and Firecracker Red.
Jeep Wrangler facelift interior, features
While the interior layout (and equipment) has been more or less retained from the outgoing Wrangler, the most noticeable change here is the new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment that runs on Jeep’s latest Uconnect 5 operating system; the larger screen means the central air vents are slim units that sit below the screen. Jeep has also added kit such as 12-way power adjustable front seats and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The safety suite on the Wrangler facelift includes six airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic roll mitigation, automatic headlamps, a tyre pressure monitor, and rear parking sensors and camera.
Jeep Wrangler facelift powertrain, off-road gear
The Wrangler for India continues to be powered by the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 270hp and 400Nm of peak torque. The unit is mated to an 8-speed torque convertor automatic and Jeep’s Selec-Trac full-time 4WD system is offered as standard.
Jeep Wrangler facelift price, rivals
Considering the current Wrangler Unlimited and Rubicon are priced at Rs 62.65 lakh and Rs 66.65 lakh, respectively, we expect the facelift to be priced a little higher on account of the new kit. While the SUV does not have any direct rivals in India, the Land Rover Defender 110 (Rs 97 lakh-2.35 crore), is the closest competitor.
